Responsible for ensuring the integrity of The State News' content through checking that articles are accurate and free from errors.
Reads and edits every story assigned by the copy chief.
Edits articles for grammar and AP Style errors.
Ensures stories are informative, interesting, fair and accurate.
Maintains regular newsroom office hours as assigned by the editor-in-chief.
Primarily responsible for copy editing stories, but is not limited to those assignments and can also pursue other projects if approved.
Copy chief
The copy chief is responsible for ensuring The State News' content is presented in the best way possible to readers through checking for accuracy and AP style/grammar errors. The copy chief manages copy editors.
Daily tasks include guiding copy editors through the editing process and acting as a bridge between copy and newsroom lead
