3 days per week, $30.00 per day, 3 articles per week (6 per pay period) $180 per 2 week pay period

    • The senior campus reporter is responsible for covering MSU's campus while assisting the campus desk editor with editing and publishing campus-related content. This reporter stays up to date with MSU news.  As a senior campus reporter, this person is the first point of contact when campus-related breaking news occurs and should work to be available to cover or delegate stories of significance.


      • Produces or edits at least three stories a week related to happenings on the MSU campus.
      • Produces at least one of those three weekly stories with video format, either through Animoto or as a standalone video project with a videographer, OR ensures that one of the stories has a video complement.
      • Works to find the most engaging and interesting stories related to Michigan State's campus while finding the most engaging, interesting, and interactive ways to tell these stories in print and on the web. 
      • Thinks of the best ways to tell these stories in print examples include ASF's, graphics, etc. With print being a weekly product, stories should focus on overall trends and reflections.
      • Thinks of the best ways to tell these stories on the web ' examples include slideshows, graphics, interactive, charts, graphs, video, audio, podcasts, etc.
      • Covers events via social media with Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook when appropriate.
      • Coordinates with photo and design for visuals to accompany stories.  
      • Works with the editors and fellow reporters when breaking news happens to ensure it is covered and someone gets to the scene as quickly as possible. 
      • Holds regular weekly meetings with important campus sources to build source-reporter relationships and scope out leads for possible campus stories or concerns.
      • Maintains journalistic ethics and social media ethics.
      • Creates stories that are informative, interesting, fair, and accurate. Maintains regular newsroom office hours as assigned by the editor-in-chief.
      • Primarily responsible for writing campus stories, but is not limited to those stories and can also write other types of articles.
