Basic Function: Primary responsibilities include managing and directing the Advertising Account Executives for The State News. Conducts goal-setting meetings and lead weekly team meetings. The primary goal is to increase advertising revenue in The State News and

  • Maintain contact with all accounts and account executives on a regular (daily) basis.
  • Research competing media to find new accounts (clippings) and be aware of new business.
  • Review issues of The State News, evaluate advertising, and distribute results and suggestions to staff.
  • Conducts weekly team meetings where goals are set and reviewed.
  • Organize and conduct team-building exercises.
  • Assist account executives in developing sales presentations and advertising strategies for clients.
  • Adheres to and enforces established deadlines, policies, procedures, etc.
  • Assist in interviewing, selection, training, and development of staff.
  • Gives account executives positive reinforcement, but disciplines when needed
  • Meeting and communicating with many different types of people and personalities in a professional way.
  • Completes one-on-ones with team members on a month-to-month basis/more if necessary
  • Maintains a positive attitude that eliminates negativity.
  • Giving and explaining rate card and media kit information to customers fills out insertion orders, collects payment, shows proofs, services clients, handles phone inquires.
  • Contact and maintains contact with all clients.
  • Creating innovative spec ads.
  • Understands the ins and outs of Smart Publisher, and checks the run sheets, make sure ads are getting billed correctly and are not on hold
  • Creates ways for the account representatives to bring in lost dollars
  • Professional and responsible at all times.
  • Willing and excited to help at State News events.
  • Motivate and is in the office on deadline days, making calls to increase sales.
  • Constantly keeps General Manager in the loop with Account Executives and overall sales.
  • Creates and implements sales competitions to boost sales
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Hours: 20-25 hours per week.
  • Must be able to work every day, Monday through Friday, and must attend all meetings and be present for all deadlines.
  • Advertising Managers have to report all days off to the GM. Frequent absences will not be tolerated.
